Be more yourself · 10-minute practice
Make a permission slip for yourself
A tiny collage for something you want more room for.
Self-expression can start with a small preference: more quiet, more color, more play, or more time to think. A permission slip gives that preference a place outside your head. It is a reminder, not a demand to reinvent your life.
Scrap paper, a magazine or packaging, glue, and a pen. Tearing works if scissors are unavailable.
Step 01
Finish one sentence
Write “I am allowed to…” and finish it with something small and believable. “Take a slow lunch” can be more useful than “Change everything.”
Step 02
Collect three pieces
Find a color, texture, and word that belong with your sentence. Tear or cut them out. Use handwritten words if printed ones do not fit.
Step 03
Arrange and keep
Move the pieces around before gluing them down. Leave the sentence readable. Put the collage somewhere you can choose to see it, such as inside a notebook.
What is one modest action that would make this permission real this week?
Make it smaller
Write your sentence on a small card and give it a colored border.
There is no required feeling at the end. If a prompt feels uncomfortable, pause, change it, or skip it.
